OBERTAN READY FOR UNITED

Alan Pardew has said that winger Gabriel Obertan will be ready to face Manchester United, as Newcastle United will welcome the title challengers.

Manchester United and Newcastle United played each other early on in the season at Old Trafford, in a match that was highly controversial.

Manchester United felt aggrieved after Newcastle United snatched a point from a penalty, which never should have been given. Hence, they are expected to be pumped up for the match against Newcastle United, whose form has really nosedived since the defeat at the hands of Chelsea.

PARDEW BACKS OBERTAN

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has said that the fans should have more faith in winger Gabriel Obertan.

Gabriel Obertan was subjected to abuse during the recent match between Swansea after Newcastle failed to break down the newly promoted club. Gabriel Obertan was the target for the fans after the apparent failure from the team.

OBERTAN SET TO RETURN

Gabriel Obertan will once again be at the heart of the Newcastle United attack, as he has been one of their better players this season. He has been influential in making Newcastle United one of the sides to be extremely cautious about.

It is the situation Manchester United are finding themselves in when they welcome Newcastle United to Old Trafford. Gabriel Obertan was sold to Newcastle United only a few seasons ago after failing to make the grade at Manchester United. Now, the former Manchester United player wants to prove himself against Sir Alex Ferguson.

Gabriel Obertan has been missing for Newcastle United in the last two matches, but he will be back in the first team fold for the important match against Manchester United. This match is extremely important because Newcastle United come on the back of their first defeat of the season against Manchester City. Even though this is the first defeat, it could potentially be the start of many. They will be facing Chelsea next weekend and this crucial run of fixtures will very much define rest of the season for Newcastle United. So far, they have been able to keep up their top four position and the excellent start they have made to the season due to the lack of any major injuries.

Regarding his time at Manchester United, Gabriel Obertan said: "When you leave a football team, you always want to go back there and prove that you have done well, aand are a better player — worthy of the trust the team has placed in you. I will try to do that."

With regard to Newcastle United's chances for finishing in the top four, he said: "We're only 10 games into the season, so there's a long way to go. I can do a lot better, and hopefully I will do it."

OBERTAN SUFFERS INJURY

Newcastle United have been dealt a major blow in the efforts to keep up their position in the Champions League places. One of the most impressive players of the season, Gabriel Obertan has been ruled out with an injury.

The midfielder, who was signed from Manchester United, has had an exceptional season for Newcastle United. So far, he has been extremely influential in enabling Newcastle United get to third in the table - a ridiculously high position for a team that was expected to struggle.

It has been reported that Gabriel Obertan would be facing up to 3 weeks on the sidelines, although the blow is slightly softened by the fact that there is the international break for two weeks of that, which will help Newcastle bring Obertan back to fitness before the Premier League season resumes.

His best performance in the season so far came in the match against Stoke City, when he helped Newcastle secure an impressive three points. The 3-1 victory almost brought an end to the doubters, who had been previously sceptical of Newcastle's ability to keep their position in the top four.

Along with the injury to Gabriel Obertan, Newcastle also have to deal with the injury to Shola Ameobi. The striker still remains unavailable to play in the match against Everton, although this will be little worry for Alan Pardew, who has Demba Ba in impressive form.

Regarding the injury to Gabriel Obertan, Alan Pardew said, “Unfortunately, he’s picked up a toe infection and will miss Saturday. He might even miss the next two games. It’s really unfortunate – I thought he was outstanding against Stoke."

Cheik Tiote is another concern for Alan Pardew, as the midfielder missed the match against Stoke with a slight knock to the knee.

OBERTAN SET TO STAY AT OT

Gabriel Obertan looks like he'll be spending 2011/12 at Old Trafford, after his agent ruled out moving away from the club on loan.

Obertan has been at the club since 2009, but has failed to break into the first-team on more than 5 occasions in any one season.

When he arrived at Manchester United he was a surprise purchase, with the media failing to recognise him when he turned up for his first day of training!

Speaking to goal.com, his agent refuted the transfer rumours surrounding Gabriel. "Rumours about Lille? No, I have not heard of any. Nor is there any concrete offer from a French club. We have received no concrete offers this summer. There has been no contact," he added.

Asked whether Obertan expects to line up for champions United next season, the agent was unequivocal. "Yes, for now he will stay here."

OBERTAN NOT INTERESTED IN MOVE

Gabriel Obertan, the French winger has been linked with a move to Rangers but the agent of Manchester United winger Gabriel Obertan has cooled talk of a move to Rangers.

Obertan has been linked with a loan move to Ibrox.

His agent, Karim Djaziri, told Scotland's Evening Times: "Gabriel Obertan is going to stay with Manchester United next season.

"We spoke at length with the manager and the club at the end of last season and there wasn’t any intention of him being loaned out to another club.
