Gabriel Obertan current form takes Newcastle United ahead

QPR manager Harry Redknapp has praised the form shown by Newcastle United in the last few weeks.

An amazing run of four consecutive victories in all competitions has seen Newcastle’s negativity at the start of the season disappear without a trace. Alan Pardew was on the verge of losing his job after his team had collapsed in an extraordinary fashion against Southampton earlier in the season. Now, they have had victories over the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City. The win over West Brom just before the international break moved them into the eighth place.

Redknapp has also managed a remarkable transformation within QPR, although he has not been able to show the same kind of results. The club from London have managed just one win in the last five matches. However, their last three matches have been against top teams like Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester City. Despite playing extremely well in these matches, QPR came with only one point to show and it came in the 2-2 draw against City. One of the main reasons for Newcastle’s amazing run of form has been the form of winger Gabriel Obertan, but he will be missing the next few months due to a major injury.

Redknapp says that it will be interesting to see how Newcastle cope without Obertan. “Alan was coming under all kinds of grief there but he’s done a great job at Newcastle. They’ve picked up. Newcastle is a great club, one of the great clubs in English football – the 50,000 fans every week with their black and white shirts on.I think he’s doing a really good job and full credit to the chairman who has never looked like buckling under pressure.I’m pleased for Alan but hopefully we can go up there and get a good result this weekend,” said Redknapp.
