Steve McLaren is not worried

Steve McLaren is not worried about the fact that he will have to go into the upcoming Premier League game versus Norwich with his no. 3 shot stopper which is Rob Elliot.

Tim Krul and Karl Darlow, the first two choices for McLaren as far as the goalkeeping options are concerned, are currently not available because of being injured and thus, he is forced to have to hand Elliott a start.

But, the manager has no doubts whatsoever about the credentials of the 29-year old.

According to McLaren, Elliot is not new to Newcastle. He is someone who has been around and he is very popular in the group. He is experienced too and pretty articulate. He is not a bad deputy at all and he would be pretty keen himself to capitalize on this opportunity that he has got.

In his conversation to a website, McLaren said, “I like Rob right from the time I have started working with him here at Newcastle. He impresses me with his knowledge of the game and he likes to speak if he feels like speaking. In the team meetings, he never hesitates to put forward his opinion. If he makes the most of this chance which he is eager to do, I personally would be very happy for him.”

This is a desperate time for Newcastle as they are one of the only two teams to have failed to register even a single win in the 2015-16 Premier League.

They are holding the bottommost place in the standings. They are equalized to Sunderland in terms of the no. of defeats, the no. of draws and the no. of points, but, the goal differential of the Black Cats is -10 which is slightly better in comparison to -11 of Newcastle. So, they are just ahead at no. 19.
