Former Bordeaux, Lorient and Manchester United right winger, Gabriel Obertan is yet to return to full action since returning from injury.
The Newcastle player has been out since last October, so it’s unsurprising that he’s far from getting a start.
The right winger suffered from a hamstring injury last year, so he played last for the Magpies in the 2-2 draw against Chelsea in September.
The player has only been involved in five matches this season in the English Premier League and had played just a match in the League Cup before his injury.
He played in the opener for Newcastle against Southampton. The match ended in a 2-2 draw. He also played in the 2-0 lost to Swansea before the draw against Manchester United.
The Frenchman was available in the games against The Gunners and The Hammers but sat on the bench through out both encounters which the team lost.
He was allowed to play by the former Newscatle United coach before Rafa Benitez took over in the game against Watford which ended in a 2-1 loss.
Last was the Chelsea game. Gabriel Obertan has gone on to miss 27 games for the Magpies this season in just the Premier League, where they currently sit in 19th position. Despite bringing on former Liverpool and Real Madrid handler, Rafa Benitez, their fortunes have not changed and they are in line for relegation to the championships.
Obertan moved to Newscatle in the 2011/2012 season from The Red Devils for 2.55 million pounds. While in Manchester United, he played 27 goals and had a goal to his feathers. Before United, he had a brief stint with FC Lorient on loan from Bordeaux. Since coming to Newscatle, he has earned 77 caps and scored three goals.
The Newscatle team still awaits his full recovery as they try to salvage their premiership status.
