Gabriel Obertan’s injury cycle is ongoing

Gabriel Obertan’s time in Newcastle United has seen him going from being a consistent player in his debut season to dropping into the sidelines and now not even being able to play at all due to a number of injuries which has kept the French player out of the pitch for a hefty period of time.

The Frenchman originally sustained a hamstring injury back in September of 2015 and he was expected to be back into in the following weeks but unfortunately for Obertan, his time on the sidelines has been a longer one due to another injury that the French winger suffered in the same hamstring.

Steve McLaren is not worried

Steve McLaren is not worried about the fact that he will have to go into the upcoming Premier League game versus Norwich with his no. 3 shot stopper which is Rob Elliot.

Tim Krul and Karl Darlow, the first two choices for McLaren as far as the goalkeeping options are concerned, are currently not available because of being injured and thus, he is forced to have to hand Elliott a start.

But, the manager has no doubts whatsoever about the credentials of the 29-year old.

Gabriel Obertan says that he is very happy with the fresh start

Newcastle United midfielder Gabriel Obertan says that he is very happy with the fresh start that he is getting at the club under the leadership of manager Steve McClaren.

The former Manchester United player seemed to be heading for an exit in the summer. During his short spell with the Northeast outfit, Obertan has largely spent time on the sidelines after being injured for much of his time. Even though he appears to have undoubted quality whenever he plays, former manager Alan Pardew was not able to avail services for much of the last few years.

Steve McClaren says that he is joining the club

New Newcastle United manager Steve McClaren says that he is joining the club with the hope of ending the long-standing trophy drought at Tyneside.

The club has not won a major trophy since the 1955 FA Cup title. During the early part of the 21st-century, they were considered as one of the potential challengers to the supremacy of Arsenal and Manchester United. For a few years under the regime of Kevin Keegan, Newcastle were able to come close to winning the league title. Since then, the club has dropped down several notches and they were even relegated for one season during this period.

Mike Ashley feeling pressure

The first step towards boycotting the current regime of Mike Ashley began when a number of Newcastle United supporters did not turn up for the recent match against Tottenham.

Newcastle United good run continues this Season

Newcastle United managed to continue their good run of form after securing a 1-0 win over Liverpool, which was their third consecutive victory in all competitions, but they paid a heavy price of this victory after losing Gabriel Obertan due to a major injury.

Gabriel Obertan current form takes Newcastle United ahead

QPR manager Harry Redknapp has praised the form shown by Newcastle United in the last few weeks.

An amazing run of four consecutive victories in all competitions has seen Newcastle’s negativity at the start of the season disappear without a trace. Alan Pardew was on the verge of losing his job after his team had collapsed in an extraordinary fashion against Southampton earlier in the season. Now, they have had victories over the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City. The win over West Brom just before the international break moved them into the eighth place.

Pardew Claims Obertan Will Stay

Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew has stated that midfielder Gabriel Obertan still has a future to the club this week transfer rumours linking him with several other outfits. The former Manchester United winger came to the north-east for around £ 2 million, but he has struggled in the last few seasons because of injuries and poor form. Newcastle appear to be building a team for the future with several new signings in the summer. They have reportedly told the likes of Obertan and Ben Arfa that they do not figure in the plans going forward.
